  • Welcomed Summer Assistant GWC Director Henry Wise, who consulted, assisted with administrative duties, and contributed to institutional history of University of Mississippi Writing Centers
  • Director attended Writing Center Administrators Summer Retreat, July 29th

Spring 2016

  • Director presented at annual MSWCA conference, with Brad Campbell and Rachel Johnson; title: “Demystifying the Writing Center and Empowering Writers: A Rhetorical Approach to Interdisciplinary Collaboration”
  • Offered “End Game” workshop, in collaboration with Candace Oswalt in the Graduate School, focusing on the final steps to complete major graduate writing projects; attended by 5 graduate students
  • Director participated in planning committee to host 2017 SWCA

Fall 2015

  • Conducted workshop, in collaboration with Paige Duke of The Graduate School, on research and writing for major graduate projects; attended by 30-40 graduate students
  • Assisted by graduate student consultant Bailey Fletcher

  • Participated in Fall 2015 Graduate Student Orientation to market GWC services

Spring 2015

  • Director participated in panel discussion at annual MSWCA Conference, with Alice Myatt, Brad Campbell, Jeanine Rauch, and Rachel Johnson, entitled “We’re Not in Kansas Anymore: Overcoming the Silo Effect”
  • Director partnered with Brad Campbell to present “How to Make ‘A”s in Writing: Achieving, Authority, Authenticity, and Agency Through Code-Meshing in the Writing Center” at the annual SWCA conference
  • Offered “End Game” workshop, in collaboration with Candace Oswalt of the Graduate School, focusing on the final steps to complete major graduate writing projects; attended by 18 graduate students

Fall 2014

  • Offered Graduate Workshop, in collaboration with the Graduate Student Council, on research and writing for major graduate writing projects; attended by 12 students
  • Assisted by work-study student, senior Charis Clark, who composed helpful handouts and helped with assessment of services

Summer 2014

  • Director attended IWCA Summer Writing Institute in June, themed “Writing Center Craft”
  • Participated in Fall 2014 Graduate Student Orientation to market GWC services

Spring 2014

  • Director attended Mississippi Writing Center Association Annual Conference and contributed to the composition of the founding by-laws
  • Offered “End Game” workshop, in collaboration with the Graduate School, focusing on the final steps to complete major graduate writing projects; attended by 18 graduate students

Fall 2013

  • Participated in Graduate Student Orientation to market GWC services
  • Visited Engineering 691: Technical Writing to promote services of the GWC
  • Offered “Getting Started” Fall Graduate Workshop, in collaboration with the Graduate Student Council; focusing on beginning the dissertation/thesis process; attended by 10 graduate students
  • Conducted 65 appointments with approximately 40 unique clients from 6 different departments

Summer 2013

  • Dr. Claire Mischker hired as inaugural director of the newly expanded Graduate Writing Center
